Asking Alexandria - Reckless & Relentless
Released April 04, 2011 via Sumerian | Rating: 4/5 | By John Damon
There's a real buzz on Asking Alexandria and, after having formed back in 2008 and making their mark out in the US after the release of debut album 'Stand Up And Scream', their homeland is finally set to catch up with this blistering second album. Mixing metalcore aggression with infectious melodies and even trance beats, they're as current as it gets and it's no wonder they're selling out shows all over the country. Tracks such as the crunching 'Dear Insanity' and the riff-infused 'Closure' show that they can bring the noise, where as the partly spoken word and atmospheric soundscape of 'Dedication' and the truly savage closer 'More Et Dabo', mixing screams and guttural roars, prove that they've got more to offer than your average metalcore act. Okay, so it's not as original or groundbreaking as some would have you believe but it is executed with such precision, professionalism and tight musicianship that 'Reckless & Relentless' is sure to make a huge mark on the UK metal and rock scenes. 2011 should be their year...
