Having been delayed several times, Asking Alexandria's remix album finally sees the light of day and, due to postponements, now features remixes of tracks from both their 2009 debut full-length 'Stand Up And Scream' and this year's massive sophomore album 'Reckless & Relentless'. Unlike many remixes, much of the heavy instrumentation that makes the York five-piece's music so crushing has been left in and built on, with the thundering beats and blips making them crazy. These dubstep reimaginings have some mighty drops in and would send clubs wild. Highlights include Borgore's remix of 'The Final Episode (Let's Change The Channel)' – which you can hear on this issue's covermount CD, Mecha's euphoric version of 'Closure', the hyperactive Celldweller remix of 'A Lesson Never Learned' and the ripping Tomba remix of 'Another Bottle Down'. Elsewhere the likes of Sol Invicto, Big Chocolate, KC Blitz, Robotsonic and others rework these songs. It seems like dubstep and metal are on a collision course and this solid effort shows that it can produce interesting results. I'd still prefer to listen to the original tracks but it shows an impressive willingness to experiment.
