I’ve always been impressed by Down I Go, mostly because there are few bands who are as thematically interesting. They’ve tackled disastercore, dictatorcore, robotcore and dinosaurcore and for this (sadly) final EP they’ve decided to write noisy hardcore songs about gods – namely Demeter, Poseidon, Atlas and Icarus. It’s a fine and somewhat appropriate way to go out though and the four-track, 15-minute EP is a joy to listen to. The joy is mostly to be found in its sheer unpredictability and the semi-educational nature of these noisecore songs. ‘Gods’ is only available digitally and as a limited edition pressing on vinyl. It can be picked up from http://www.shelsmusic.com.
