Minus The Bear have forged a hugely successful career by eschewing the rulebook and pushing themselves on to new sonic adventures with each subsequent record. ‘Infinity Overhead’ is yet another change of direction; more immediate and less cold than ‘Planet of Ice’, yet not as funky or eclectic as ‘Omni’, it’s a post-rock/post-punk mish-mash of ideas and styles – yet remains unmistakably Minus The Bear. From the majestic, soaring ‘Diamond Lightning’ to the punchy ‘Zeros’, it’s clear that this is Minus The Bear at the top of their game. Better still, the pounding ‘Lonely Gun’ could be both a sleeper hit and the finest song the group has ever penned.
