From album opener ‘Follow Your Leaders’, it’s clear that the recently reformed influential pop punks Screeching Weasel are back to what they do best – writing insanely catchy pop punk tunes with cutting and intelligent (and yes, kind of jaded) observations and self-deprecating humour. Sounding refreshed and reinvigorated, tracks such as ‘Beginningless Vacation’ show that Ben Weasel loves the Ramones as much as ever and ‘Totem Pole’ and ‘Friday Night Vacation’ highlight how they’re still as energetic as twenty years ago. More in the ‘My Brain Hurts’ pure pop punk vein than the heavier ‘Television City Dream’ sound, Screeching Weasel are back to their best.
