It’s been a while since I’ve had a nice slice of angular yet angry hardcore land in my lap so I was pleased when this came hurtling out of my headphones. W.A.K.D. contain ex-members of one or two other bands, most notably yourcodenameis:milo (voted most likely to succeed 2004). The sheer number of ideas crammed into a relatively short record means that it is almost a collage of sound, with no overall theme running through the work at all. This is for the most part a thrill as the sheer seat of the pants effect of them recording live takes over and you succumb to its charms.
