Northern Irish thrash metallers Gama Bomb have decided to make this new record, the follow-up to their 2008 breakthrough ‘Citizen Brain’, free to fans as a download via earache.com/gamabomb. So what’s it like? Well, thankfully, ‘Tales From The Grave In Space’ sees them match the high standard that they set themselves with their last record. Tearing out of the starting blocks with the ripping ‘Slam Anthem’, they show no signs of slowing down. Whether you love classic thrash metal such as Nuclear Assault or have become a curious fan thanks to the recent releases of Municipal Waste, Gama Bomb’s new album is sure to have you throwing the horns and head banging like crazy. As expected, the musicianship is top notch, with insane guitar solos and a break neck paced rhythm section. The pummelling and relentless ‘Last Ninjas Unite’, insane ‘Escape From Scarecrow Mountain’ and superbly titled ‘Mussolini Mosh’ are all highlights that show that they’ve got the combination of thrash and humour nailed.
