Issue 132: April 2011

Descendents, The Blackout, Rise Against, The King Blues, Thursday, Underoath, Aiden, Sum 41 and more…

From the late '70s/early '80s LA hardcore scene to modern day heroes of pop punk, few punk bands are as universally loved and influential as the Descendents. Returning to the UK for two highly anticipated, long awaited Big Cheese sponsored London shows in late April, it's time to fill your Bonus Cup as we have a world exclusive talk to long-serving members drummer Bill Stevenson and iconic frontman Milo Aukerman about their formative years, punk classics, their return and the possibility of a new album.

We also trace their roots with a feature outlining ten more bands that kick started the '80s Californian punk scene, from Bad Religion and Black Flag to the Dead Kennedys and the Dickies.

Elsewhere, we bring you interviews with other punk heroes, including Sum 41, Thursday and Rise Against, and talk to bands truly bringing the noise, with features on Underoath, Amon Amarth, Sylosis and Let.live.

Also, Rival Schools' Walter Schreiffels tells us the albums that changed his life and we pay homage to Cavalera Conspiracy/Soulfly metal mauler Max Cavalera. There's album reviews of Foo Fighters, Green Day, Yellowcard, Lower Than Atlantis, Teenage Bottlerocket, We Are The Ocean and Panic! At The Disco, as well as live reviews of Rob Zombie, Devil Sold His Soul and more!
